"My father was a boss of one of the Puerto Rican farm-working cohorts of the Sunny Slope farm camps, in Gaffney. In the 70s, the owner of that farm, Vincent Caggiano, had met my dad through the local Baptist church that did mission work in Puerto Rico. He had heard about this job opportunity and took the whole family with him to Gaffney. My brother also worked in the farm. I have pictures of me on a swing in front of our house that belonged to the Caggiano family. We lived there for a year or so until my dad saves money to buy a house. You could see farm trees in the background. I can't if they are peach or apple trees. They had both on the farm."
